Nicholas Bells is an everychild who overcomes his deepest insecurity in this hilarious, touching, and incredibly engaging debut novel. I could not put the book down. P.S. Keep in mind that "Kirkus Reviews" panned "The Catcher in the Rye." - S. Venokur (the author's Mom) Nicholas Bells's classmates think he's a freak. Nobody normal has as many freckles as he does. So when a mysterious department store manager promises to make the freckles disappear, Nicholas quickly agrees to the deal. Except when the dreaded freckles are finally gone, life gets even worse! Turns out the freckles were magic--and now they're under Mr. Piddlesticks's dastardly control! If Nicholas can't win his freckles back, no one will be safe from the amazing freckle power.
